Cajun Nights MUSH
I took today off from work, and I think I will make it a habit going forward to do so, to celebrate Mardi Gras with a mental health day, among other things.
Also, a Happy Belated Valentine's Day to those who celebrate.
It is RL 2021... and we have survived thus far. A lot has happened since my last post, the first big thing that I want to mention is we had a virtual Moot/Althing/Gathering/Etc. of previous Players, set up by Tethys. We spent almost 3 hours chatting about what we've been up to in RL these past few years, reminisced about the game itself, the good and the bad... and the ugly. Plus discussed some of what I have planned for the game going forward.
Personally, I must say it was good to see/hear many of you again, and good to talk to others for the first time. Thank you for taking time out of your day to hang with us and shoot the breeze, as it were.
We are looking into doing it again possibly next month (March). Let myself or Tethys know if you'd like in on it, and we'll see what we can do about access to the 'Zoom Room'.

New This Issue
I think I mentioned it before, but Yemaya has been helping with the cleanup, and Ol'Sarge has been checking the code systems out, fixing the things that have gone awry over the years.
I am in communication with Anaisa and Brigette about helping out. Hopefully within the next week or so I'll be able to get one or both tasked with things to do, depending of course on their own free time.
If anyone else is interested in helping out, please let me know. You don't have to have been staff before. I'm willing to teach! I am at the point where there's plenty to do and I could use the help, plus know (mostly) what I want to ask to have done. Email me at, or directly at - If you don't hear back from me within 24-48 hours, poke me here on Facebook and I'll see if the email got stuck somewhere.

Build & Code:
We're getting in to the meat of the cleanup now. I have 95% of the grid mapped, except for the Dynamic Space Bayou, which is designed NOT to be mappable, among other fringe locations I just haven't reached yet.
I successfully updated Rhost (which I recently learned is correctly pronounced "Ar-Host", not "Roast"), so we are running on the latest stable platform.

Media & Website:
The rebuild of the website is taking a different path than the original. Instead of transferring all of the files from the original website (which I have archived), I am going to design the framework of this site to be ready for all new information instead.
That's not to say that a lot of the original information will be ignored, but to say that it will be integrated into the new design for that fresh new feeling I am trying to build.
Newsletter! Well... I have one built on the website. None of the plugins that I could find have a hook into posting the newsletter on Facebook, or any other platform even. They are all email driven. So, if you want to start receiving the Newsletter once I start publishing it... go to and click on the Newsletter link found in the menu and subscribe.
Once I do publish that, it will be similar to these updates, but in a different design. I will keep these going until the newsletter is really established, then will make these posts into a 'Hey, new Newsletter!" kind of announcement.

Well... I let it slip during the Moot that the game will reopen with the VR year being some time in 2006. It will no longer be "The Dark Future", at least when we start. The VR time will remain the same, approximately two VR days to 1 RL day, so it will catch up quickly by date.
However, the time line will be strictly our own. I do not want our storylines to be hampered by the restrictions of reality, therefore when we open there will be a decided break from RL history from the beginning.
Final Word
Kind of a code thing, but not mushcode. With the amount of systems we use in the game to help build a super-immersive world for players to enjoy, I believe that all of those things can easily get confusing.
I'll be honest, with this cleanup/rebuild project, I have come across code and systems that I was unaware existed, let alone knew how to use. So one thing I also want to have built and ready when we are open is a library of "How To" documents to reference for each system. Some are universal, but many are unique to Cajun Nights MUSH. I want the players to have the best chance at a complete experience in the fun storylines we put out for them.
Lastly, I mentioned that I was looking into communication platforms for players & staff. The one comment to that post was adding IRC (Internet relay Chat) to the list of possibilities. I must admit, in my now *cough* umpteen years *cough* of working with computers, have never really ever used IRC. I'm sure I have missed out on a lot over the years.
With that being said, the forerunner at the moment is Discord. The main reasons for that are the integration of a Discord channel into the ComSys of the game, and that it is a popular platform geared for gamers. It also appears to have the capability to host a Zoom-like meeting, as well as screen sharing for teaching/demonstration purposes.
If you are on Discord and would like to add me, my handle there is Shakron#8553.
With that, I think I've rambled on enough for now...
As I have asked before, please spread the word to join the Page and the FB Group. The more interest that gets generated, the more we can open with full steam.

Until Anon, Cajun Nighters.
